Day 264, Picture 264, September 30, 2010 – Early Morning at the Track

Early Morning at the Track

I spent all day at the Kansas Speedway for the ARCA race. A great day is when you see the sun rise at a race track and see the sun set or at least the evening light. In the early morning the race track garage is busy with activity. The golden light from the rising sun casts dark shadows along with bathing race cars in that golden light.

Day 263, Picture 263, September 29, 2010 – Preparation

Preperation

Racing is more preparation time than racing time. The race car is prepared for the race weekend at the shop before it is transported to the track. Then at the track, the race car is prepared for inspection. Then the race car is prepared for practice runs. Then the race car is prepared for the qualifying run. After qualifying the race car is prepared for the race.

We are in Kansas for the ARCA race. Today was inspection time, so the garage was busy getting the race car ready for inspection. After inspection, if the car passed, the race car would get ready for practice tomorrow.

I took this picture primarily of the Venturini garage area, but also the rest of the teams were busy in garage area too. There is a lot going on in this picture. Lots of detail.

Day 261, Picture 261, September 27, 2010 – Mike & Ike

Mike & Ike

Mike and Ike are moving, so I thought they should be Picture-Of-The-Day. They have been on the corner down from where we live for a long time. There home has sold, so I would think they do not go with the house. Maybe not. I guess we will see. While we wait to see, we still get to see their smiling faces.

Day 260, Picture 260, September 26, 2010 – Sam

Sam

Sam was my companion at my 14 South Artists Fall Art Tour location. She would sit in the window being a solar cat, soaking up the sun. Cats make great subjects. Most do not mind having their picture taken. Some pose for you. In most cases they will sit still for you while you take the photos. Also, cats have such great eyes. Since Sam was so nice this weekend, I though he should be Picture-Of-The-Day.

It was nice being at Ann’s house with Mary for this years Tour. It is the second year the three of us were together and it works very well for us. Ann is a Fused Glass Artist and Mary designs and makes her own jewelry. With my photography and digital art, it gives the art lovers on the tour a nice diversity.

Day 259, Picture 259, September 25, 2010 – Fall Xmas Lights

Fall Xmas Lights

Not much to say about today, too tired. Got up real early, loaded the Santa Fe, drove to my studio site for the Fall Art Tour, unloaded, put up signs for the Fall Art Tour, set up my art, stood on my feet from before 10 to after 5 and then went shopping and dinner. I just got home, now work on Picture-Of-The-Day.

A great day, talked art to over 80 people. I had fun, now some sleep..

Day 258, Picture 258, September 24, 2010 – Blue Sky

Blue Sky

No fungi today, I could not find a fungi I liked today, so I looked upward instead of downward. Some days just the glimpse of blue sky helps you get through the day better. I like a little more blue in my sky, so I took this image into Photoshop and worked on it a little to get the sky I wanted. That is the nice thing about working digitally, it is a little easier to change some things.

I spend the morning getting my canvas wraps redone for this weekend’s 14 South Artist Fall Studio Art Tour. I redid the backs and put on wire instead of alligator hangers. They will be easier to hang now and look better on the back. I know most people do not look at the back of a work of art much, but since the front is so good, I thought the back should be too. Now off to work until 11 tonight, then up early, load the Santa Fe, drive to the studio I will be located at, unload, setup and welcome art lovers. I look forward to this weekend.

Day 257, Picture 257, September 23, 2010 – Mushroom with Acorns

Mushroom with Acorns

I did not have time today to leave the house for today’s Picture-Of-The-Day, so it is fungi, day 3 in a row. I like fungi, so I went looking for different fungi for today’s Picture-Of-The-Day. I was busy updating the 14 South Artist Website for this weekend’s Fall Studio Art Tour and working on the shed to make more room for stuff. I gave myself 30 minutes to take an picture, work on it and then post it. My problem for today’s image was ‘What image to pick?’ out of the two dozen images I shot! I finally picked this one after narrowing it down to three.

I am going  put up all three images, then add a poll to see if you all agree with my pick. So go to my blog: https://markbuehl.wordpress.com/ and look for today’s Fungi Poll. Vote for your favorite image. This is not Chicago, so you can only vote once!

Day 256, Picture 256, September 22, 2010 – Fungi Umbrella

Fungi Umbrella

We had some rain last night, so after mowing lawn, I went on a fungi hunt. Found lots of little ones, but nothing to take a picture of. So I went back to the fungi patch I took a picture at yesterday. They had grown and there was a few more. This is the same mushroom I took yesterday, just at a different angle. Also the mushroom has opened up more. I like the texture of mushrooms. It will be interesting to see how long these last.

I am in the 14 South Artists Fall Art Tour this weekend. Two of my images of fungi will be on display. One is of a mushroom I took in Door County that is tall and has a fine texture. It had just popped up the night before because there was still moist soil bits on the mushroom. The second image is of a stack of mushrooms I took last year early at the Madison Farmers Market. It was about 6:30 am so the light was that golden light. They were mushrooms used a lot in oriental cooking. They look like sea shells. They were stacked up so nice and with that golden light, the image is very nice. Many people when they see the photograph think they are sea shells.
