Day 1968, May 31, 2015 – Mrs. White Paws

Mrs. White Paws

Mrs. White Paws

Mrs. White Paws or MWP, posed for her Spring portrait so nice that she is today’s Picture-Of-The-Day selection. It was cool in Southern Wisconsin today, so much different than last week. At least it did not rain.

This is Day 1968 of this project or Nineteen Sixty Eight. Nineteen Sixty Eight is the year I graduated from High School. It does and does not seem like a long time ago. Lots has happened in between. It was also the year I took my first computer course, a Basic language course that was required for my major, but also for every business major. For some reason programing languages came easy to me, lots easier than foreign languages. I made a lot of money in that class. Most of the class were Seniors that put off that class because they were scared of computers. I wrote their programs for many of them at $20 a program. Lot of money in 1968. The next year I took a Art Photography class and a News Photography class, two different ways to look at the world through a camera lens.

Day 1967, May 30, 2015 – Pier

Pier

Pier

A very rainy, cool day, but it cleared up some late afternoon. Still cloudy and cool at dinner, but at least no rain. We had an early dinner because it was a long day for both of us. We had a nice dinner with a lake view. Hopefully it will be nice tomorrow.

Day 1966, May 29, 2015 – Rock Garden

Rock Garden

Rock Garden

While on the deck tonight, I noticed the rock garden needs some attention, but at least it is coming along. Not too much today. I had PT, that took some out of me, then the slow Internet was frustrating, and it rained off and on today. I needed sun, lots of sun, and warmth!

Day 1965, May 28, 2015 – Yellow

Yellow

Yellow

What a busy day and I never left the house. I captured a bunch of images, mostly flowers, this one I liked the best of the bunch. I was so busy I did not even get on Facebook until after 7 tonight. Mostly computer work and with a slow Internet, everything takes longer. I learned today that 80% of the US has faster Internet than we do here. Oh well, at least we have Internet. At least it was a nice day, no rain, lots of sun and a great temperature in the 80’s! I just wish I could have been outside more. At least I cooked on the deck and we ate out on the deck. The kids like that.

Day 1964, May 27, 2015 – Worker Bee

Worker Bee

Worker Bee

It rained this morning in Southern Wisconsin, but by noon, cleared off. Now, late afternoon, almost dusk, it is great, 70’s, no wind, no clouds and when I look out my window above my Mac, it is green with the blue sky! A great day! I took a quick tour of my front yard and captured many images to use for today’s Picture-Of-The-Day image. Lots of bee activity. And there were still water droplets on the flowers giving that diamond look. The kids got on the deck, we ate our day late anniversary dinner on the deck with the kids, so over all everyone was happy with the great day.

Day 1963, May 26, 2015 – Newbie Is Sad

Newbie Is Sad

Newbie Is Sad

Newbie had a rough day with all the rain here in Southern Wisconsin. Just when he got out on the deck, the rains came back and he had to come in. Not even a tuna treat could cheer him up. It is rough when you cannot get to do what you want, even for a cat. Lots of rain also prevented me from getting outside. Not that I mind getting wet, it is just hard with crutches in the rain. It is nice when I have two cats to pick from for Picture-Of-The-Day images. Everyone likes a cat photo.

Day 1962, May 25, 2015 – Uncle In the Front Yard

Uncle In The Front Yard

Uncle In The Front Yard

Uncle has found a spot in our front yard that feels just right on a warm day. Cool earth and shade is not too bad of a spot. It was a far busier day for me. Not as busy as it should be for this time of the year, but with my broken ankle not yet 100%, it was a busy day for me. Mowed the lawn, planted some herbs, planted some of my shade area, mostly pots, but some native flowers also. When you have to deal with crutches, things just take longer, a lot longer. But it could have been worse and I might not have been able to do what I did today. So you learn to live with the little accomplishments.

Day 1961, May 24, 2015 – Kali

Kali

Kali

It has rained all day here in Southern Wisconsin. The kids could not go out on the deck, we could not plant and we got soaked getting groceries and other things. Kali was nice enough to open her eyes for this picture. She was disappointed for not being able to go on the deck. So she had to sleep a lot. Poor girl.

Day 1960, May 23, 2015 – White Flowers

White Flowers

White Flowers

What a day here in Southern Wisconsin. Great weather, ran into Madison, got some new hostas, worked in the shade area of our lawn, more woods than lawn, and now we are ready to plant! I did get to plant some herbs on the deck. Slow but sure on the yard this summer. Crutches are a real pain when trying to do yard work, plant, clean the hosta and fern area. Well they are a real pain in just about anything. I cannot recommend crutches. Do not break or sprain anything below your waist and you most likely will avoid crutches. I took the kids outside on the deck twice today, so I am the best Dad ever. Now they are both so tired they cannot keep their eyes open. Tomorrow, plant, plant, and more planting with some weeding too.

This image looks the best at full screen because of the detail I think.

Day 1959, May 22, 2015 – Itsy Bitsy Spider

Itsy BItsy Spider

Itsy BItsy Spider

Even spiders lie to Photo Bomb your photos! Well this posting has been a struggle. The cell tower near us is getting upgraded. So since about 10 days ago when they started, we have had slow to no Internet. This posting normally takes a few minutes to post, tonight it has been over 45 minutes trying to get today’s Picture-Of-The-Day image uploaded. We live 8.8 miles as the crow flies from our Wisconsin Capitol, less than a mile from the nearest Cable customer, but we cannot get DSL or Cable. So we have to use Satellite or Cell technology. There is a new service that transmits from a silo near us, but we have to be able to put an antenna up high enough to clear trees to pick it up. They are still 30 times slower than cable. But they are faster than Satellite or Cell technology. We are in an Internet wasteland with Internet speeds slightly faster than Dial-Up in the 1980’s! And we are only 8.8 miles from our state capitol! A very frustrating day, week and maybe yet another week before they have our service back to normal.
